Pat Boyer—Contemporary Painter

Artist Statement

The work here comes through me. It’s as if I am not painting it myself when I am in action standing in front of the paper or canvas on the studio wall. I am aware that I am nature and the work is about nature.

Every piece represents 50 years of transporting myself into the subject matter, be it a landscape, a person or the internal mechanism of my own psyche.

I am lucky in that I have always been a free spirit with my art, able to let go easily with the stroke of a brush. My whole body gets into the process.

Orderly intuition. Pat Boyer composes abstract paintings from the intuitive gesture that one associates with the golden age of abstract expressionism.
